I have been working in practice for the last 7 years, and this was the only job I had after qualifying. After years of below average pay, and a slightly negative work atmosphere, I’ve gone out and interviewed and I have been hired by a medium sized company to work under the Financial Controller. I really enjoyed management accounting when I did ACCA but now I feel I need a total refresher and possibly a few tips on what to expect (I was told month ends could be hectic!).
Are there any accountants out there who did the same? How was the adjustment to industry from practice? Did you find you needed to work on learning some new and different skills?
