Maternity cover

I am back at work for a couple of months between two periods of maternity leave. (I fell pregnant during my first mat leave and am going on mat leave to have second baby soon). Someone was recruited to cover my
role over the last year and she will be extended to cover next next mat leave. The issue is for the perood that I am back we are having to work together (the job is normally done by one person) and she is eroding my already shaky self confidence. She has openly said she is pushing for a permanent job at the company and was jumping for joy when she found out I was pregnant again as it meant she could stay. She’s unsuccessfully applied for my manager’s job already. When I have offered to take on tasks to support her she has submitted the work and taken credit for it. She is doing long hours, logging on during weekends and evenings which I can’t do and don’t want to do with a baby. I fully intend to return after my next mat leave and the company are very supportive, not the kind who would push me out.just finding it awkward with both of us there together atm and it’s upsetting me.

She can jog on. You're protected by law, you are within your rights to take and go on maternity leave. You want to come back to work. Don't let it phase you, just be polite and let her get on with it
