Maternity enhanced pay/ leaving work?

Good evening,

Quick question if I may!

I left on maternity leave and received enhanced maternity pay providing I work for at least 3 months upon my return to work. My maternity leave finished the last week of July. I have accrued around 2 months worth of annual leave.

If I use my annual leave through August and September and work the October month, will this qualify as my 3 months returned to work? Technically I am no longer on maternity pay?

I have a job offer to start early Nov and want to ensure I won't be left with a debt owed to current employer.

I have always treated it as such but it depends on the employer.

I’m a bit confused on the time line, did you return to work on 1 August and get the job offer today?

If that is the case you have already returned to work. Personally I would talk to HR and suggest you would like to take the leave but have options e.g. working part weeks and spreading the leave out, maybe working August then taking the last 2 months off.

It’s hard working your notice but even more so if you have been off work for Mat leave. Having to work in October will loom over you, getting it over with May be easier.
