Team night out

I am in a team with young people, they would arrange night out occasionally.

But I am not a partygoer, don't like dancing, hate loud music, can't even finish a small bottle of beer...etc

I like my team, just don't want to attend the gathering of this kind. Am I not a good team member?

You shouldn't feel pressured into socialising outside of work. They're not your people.

If you work well together, pull your weight and help others when needed, you're good.

I wasn't into socialising with my colleagues either when I got a bit older. I go to work, do my job and go home. Now that I have DH and DD definitely not.

You can just not go, go for the first drink then leave, or ask about a night you might enjoy.

I'm forcing asking work people to a game cafe with Jenga and Yahtzee.

Haha I would like to take part if this is a board game gathering!

Yes! I used to join a few time and I really couldn't enjoy it, just felt exhausted after that.

By the time I was in this position, I was a parent so used to go along for the first drink and then used childcare as an excuse to leave. It suited me! I and my team all felt that we'd done our bits (they'd invited me, I'd showed up, we'd had a pleasant conversation) without me having to cramp their style!
