Civil Service interview outcomes

Hi, I had an interview today for a HEO position within DWP, which I think went well. There are 20 positions and roughly 100 being interviewed so a 1 in 5 chance, last interview is on Monday. Any idea when I can expect to get some feedback?

This is a how long is a piece of string question. Civil Service recruitment is painfully slow and inefficient. I'm still waiting for a start date for a job I applied for in January, and I'm already an existing civil servant. So don't expect a quick response.

Thanks, I’m an existing CS too and from memory got my feedback quite quick but it took 9 months to actually start from application date! So I know it will be a while for the checks etc, but this was 5 years ago so was unsure if they just churn the results out quick then drag their feet with the postings

In my experience they just drag their feet from start to finish. It's a long, slow and very frustrating process. They must lose so many good candidates because of it.

With bulk recruitment it can take a while, weeks even, (possibly even months I hate to say) they will need to interview and scored everyone, then get it uploaded to CSJ. Things like guaranteed interviews can slow it down if people are off sick. So manage your expectations and expect it to be weeks (this is no reflection of the likely outcome, all results will be uploaded in the same way, it's not like a single post where you might get a call from the hiring manager if successful)

And if successful onboarding is another painful wait. Best to try and put it to the back of your mind and don't make any decisions based around the outcome for a long while.

And good luck!

Oh sorry just seen you're already a CS so probably know all that already!

I work for DWP. I would say it could be weeks. All the interviews will need to be conducted first and though they will have a set period for interviewing this will undoubtedly lengthen as people have to cancel through illness or have technology issues.
They will then rank the candidates and offer in score order. They then see if those candidates want the job before continuing down the list. It can take forever. When I applied for my G7 I applied in Feb and started in September.

So I made the reserve list! Scored 33 in total which my SEO said is a great score, must of just been a very high standard, will see if anything comes of it

Hi

Any chance you can give advice on how to answer the questions please? I had an interview for Heo a couple of months ago and thought i did well but only scored 3 in my answers. I am applying again for another Heo position and would be grateful for any help please.
