Has anyone going through or recently gone through a DBS check? If so how long did it take please?

My SIL is still waiting for her check to work for a charity and has been waiting 5 weeks so far. The reason for asking is I have been offered a position in the nhs which also requires a standard dbs check. I have been told it could take up to 8 weeks, so far on week 1 and looking for your recent stories of completion...or not. Thanks 😊

This is like how long is a piece of string. It depends on so many factors, other peoples experience will honestly add zero information for the answer you want. Sorry OP.

Thanks for your honest input. It's been many years since I've had a dbs and rightly so heard different time spams of competition over the years. I'll wait and see.

I run them for employees.

Most are clear and in the post in a day or two.

I also currently have one that's now in its 5th week.

They need to go through different checks and if there's a hold up at one point (often the local police check for the individual) then it's just a waiting game.

Yes, some are coming back really quickly others are taking weeks, no reasons at all. Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones.

I'm also waiting for nhs, and mine is currently stuck on stage 2!

My enhanced DBS took about a week. I had a zoom call with the person who needed to see my documents, then it was posted a day later.

Mine is with the Met police, they are taking up to 4 months.

Mine will go to suffolk, but everyone says it gets stuck at stage 4, where as mine is stuck at stage 2

Did a online webchat with the DBS the average wait time is 8 weeks at the moment.

I got one last month & it took about a week.

Wow thank you all @AceofPentacles ,@Harebrain @immy324 @NJMAd @bobby81 @firsttimemumhere . Seems like such a contrast of wait times ranging for 1 week to 8 weeks. I checked back from one I had 4 years ago and it took a week then.

Just to say got a email to say mine is now being printed, so mine didn't end up being too long.

Thank you @immy324 was this for an enhanced disclosure? how long was the wait please? my understanding is the standard goes from stage 1, 2 and then to 5. Enhanced goes from stages 1,2, 3, 4 and then 5 so possibly why it generally takes longer in some cases perhaps.

@Flatpancake1 yes mine was enhanced (nhs role) hopefully won't take too long in coming now!

From my experience about 4-6 weeks…also factor in post deliveries.
Daughters took only 2 weeks but it didn’t arrive for another 2 weeks..so frustrating!

About a month ago and it took 2 days.

I did one a few weeks ago for a school job, it was back within a week.

I had a standard one just before Easter and it took about 10 minutes

@Flatpancake1 my enhanced DBS didn’t go through any stages. I filled in the form, work sent it off & had a zoom call a couple of days later. Then the lady who I had the zoom call with, popped it in the post. (She just checked all my documents in the zoom call).

Mine took about 2 and a half weeks. I worked for a bank.

@immy324 , mine is stuck at stage 2 and I know yours was as well.Mine has been stuck on stage 2 for 4 days (it's enhanced not standard). What was your timeframe of the stages please if you don't mind sharing. I know they're all different but keen to hear. 😊 TY

Hi it’s been 46 days for my enhanced dbs I still haven’t got it back and this is for the nhs too.. when you phone they say they don’t do anything till it’s been 60 days
