Clinical coding

Hello. I've been researching clinical coding as a potential career change. I'm currently on maternity leave. Are there courses I could be doing online whilst I am off or do I need to get a training position first? Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

Your training will mostly be done through the Trust you work for, you’ll start with the Clinical Coding Standards Course then hopefully work towards the national clinical coding qualification.

I’d recommend having a look online to find out as much as you can about clinical coding before you apply. NHS Digital/England would be a good place to start, although many Trusts produce their own information about their coding departments. YouTube also has a number of videos you may find helpful.
