Shall I take my CV in person?

I’m desperate for a new job having been in my current job for 12 years and have been off for the last 3 weeks with stress as I just cannot cope with the bad management anymore. I have found a job that sounds perfect, and have applied online. My DH thinks I should also go and hand deliver my CV and letter to show my face and kind of introduce myself but I don’t know if this is old fashioned these days, will help? I’m interested to see what anybody else thinks?

What type of job is it? I would ring first rather than going in cold and ask if you can have an informal chat/tour. Take your cv but be prepared for them to ask for it via email/formal submission.

If you've already applied online then no, I wouldn't now go down in person.

I would follow their guidelines about how they want the CV to be submitted. This shows them that you are capable of understanding information and doing what they've asked. They will almost certainly want it emailing or going in via their electronic system so they can look at it on a computer screen and share it with relevant people in the company e.g. department head, managing director etc (depending on the corporate structure and who makes the hiring decisions).

Honestly, though, my best advice is that getting a new job is like buying a house. Absolutely don't get attached to one until you've got a contract.

I recruit a lot, and I'd find it quite weird if someone did this. You've done what's needed which is apply online. If there's an email address for the hiring manager on the job advert, you could send an email introducing yourself and highlighting your suitability for the role
