No idea what to do

Hi, I’m in an industry that’s going (or going to be) through a lot of changes ATM. Not all of them good (IMO). I like my job and my team but I’m sort of half looking for other things…

The issue: I have no qualifications to speak of; GCSES (I’m 43), an OU Diploma. That’s it.

I’ve done a few years in this industry (on and off), apart from that my only jobs have been low-paid admin, which bored me to tears and had zero flexibility round hours. I can’t do retail/hospitality/care as an injury I have means I can’t do much lifting etc.

I did work in two branches of the civil service but that was 20+ years ago and it seems so difficult to even get in as an AA now. I live in a town where there aren’t really any opportunities and unemployment is high.

I’ve never really had a passion, only thing I wanted to do was beauty therapy, parents wouldn’t support it so I ended up attempting A-levels (badly) and then a BTech (also badly). My H says he’ll pay for me to do a make up course but there’s so many beauty/nails shops where I am, I just don’t think I’d be able to do anything practical with it to earn and it’s pretty expensive.

Any advice?
