Final pay and salary adjustment

My contract was ended early. The company had given me a laptop but they have deducted this as a salary deduction from my final pay. I have not signed an agreement or agreed the amount that can be deducted from my salary. The email I have at the start says the laptop is mine. What can I do? Do I have to pay for something that I haven’t agreed to be taken off my salary?

I'd just forward that email back to them then, and politely state that it was given to you specifically to keep, and ask for the remainder of your pay.

Thank you

Your payslip should show the laptop as a separate item

  1. in income side
  2. then again as a deduction (as they are not giving you the value in cash)

You can't find out the depreciation value but it should be about what you'd pay 2nd hand for that spec laptop

They cannot just give you the laptop - they need to calculate the cure r value & apply BIK on that basis, speak to payroll.

How much less were you being paid? I mean, brand new a laptop costs £500 - £1000 for a decent one.

So did they pay you only that much less, so it worked out as a good deal? If not you should not have accepted that deal.

Make sure in future you get it all in writing & spelled out up front.
