No motivation

I work in Civil Service.
I worked in a role that I loved for around 6 years. I was carrying out a temporary promotion within that team, and to gain the role permanently, I went through a process to get a promotion.

I got the promotion and was unfortunately moved to another team and a completely different role.

I am SO unsuited to this role. In all honesty, I am just not clever enough to do it. I find it really confusing, it's difficult, fast paced, lots of speech writing, ministerial correspondence etc. I find the area I work in incredibly boring. I have zero interest in it.

I can start to apply for other roles in a few months but there's no guarantee that there will be anything that I will want to go for.

I find I'm just dragging myself through the day trying to complete my work. I struggle to get through it because I can't concentrate. I'm just trying to get the day over with and go home. Is it possible to find a way to motivate myself??

Are you able to sprinkle in a few tasks you do like? Or ask to work on a project that you’re interested in? Have you discussed your feelings with your manager? They may be able to help make it better for you if they are a good manager and have something to offer.
