I've had a search for a recent thread with no joy, please feel free to point me in the direction of one if this is repetition.
I wondered if I could pick the brains of people that have got back into work after a break as a sahm? Or anyone that's job hunted recently.
I've had help putting an up to date CV together from a friend who is very senior in a big company, so feel like that's under control. Where I'm struggling is that it's been over 20 years since I actually had an interview / went through an application process. My last role was through working my way up internally, so not really any interview practice and I got the initial job through temping.
Could temping me a good place to start? Are there any schemes or online resources to help get you up to speed with the process? I would ideally like part time, but I'm pretty flexible. I also don't need to work in my previous field, I feel like I have some good transferable skills. It's just selling myself, I feel paralysed by fear and a lack of confidence.
I know I'm holding myself back and I am really have to push myself to ignore the voice saying I'm old and unemployable. In fact I think working again is just what I need to improve my self confidence etc! I've done some voluntary stuff and very part time Ad hoc work, but basically nothing concrete for 7 years or so.
Any pointers gratefully received.
