Hi all,

My daughter has her first interview 😁.

She has an interview for a dental nurse apprenticeship, she is incredibly excited/nervous bless her.

What should she wear to it?! Is it still black trousers and blouse?

Any advice really would be so very much appreciated x

Can't really go wrong with black trousers and blouse / formal top

Good luck to your daughter, black trousers and a blouse sound fine.

Flats will do fine too, whatever is comfortable (I wouldn't do big chunky white trainers though!)

Good luck!

Ahhh bless her, I bet she will smash it! I'd advise comfy shoes!! I went to my last interview in new shoes and was crippled by the time I got there, literally hobbled into the room.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 04/07/2023 19:56

Oh no!! She will have to get new shoes unless she goes in trainers 😬

I feel cheeky asking, but would you happen to have any advice for her that could possibly help?! 😬x

No problem!
She needs to understand what the role involves.
She needs to be understanding that patients are nervous, this can make people a little difficult sometimes, and be able to put them at ease.
An understanding that dental nursing involves her working as a team with the dentist and the other nurses and receptionists etc…
She needs to be able to work independently and under instruction.
Ne aware that that emergencies happen and say that although she’s not trained yet she can remain calm under pressure. Maybe think of an example where she has? ( although she’s young so doesn’t need to be anything too exciting!)
Above all she needs to show a caring friendly nature.
Neat and tidy hair and make up ( and show understanding that it needs to be up and out of the way when working). I personally wouldn’t have a major problem with a pair of trainers under wide legged black trousers, as long as the overall look was tidy.

Oh, and why does she want dental nursing?
Hands on
Smaller more intimate team
Can get to know patients individually as they come regularly
More individual responsibility than in a hospital large department, ie, she could ultimately be responsible for running the whole surgery, or progress to running the practice ( years away!)
Potential for career progression to therapy/hygiene should she find she wants to later.

@Littlemissprosecco thank you so so much for your advice!!

I have screenshot and sent to my dd who has found it incredibly helpful, she asked me to thank you 😊.

Thank you again, you have no idea how appreciative we are xx

A loafer style shoe would work and could be worn again. Nice straight leg or wide leg black trousers and shirt. Minimal jewellery and makeup. Hair tidy. She'll do fine 👍 best of luck
