Work related stress p/t job can I work agency?

I’m a teacher who works 4 days a week in my school.

I have been bullied and threatened by the headteacher and it has affected my mental health significantly.

If I think about the situation I get tearful, panicky and am often if spiralling in self pity.

I have asked my union to negotiate an exit for me before September, but I am waiting for a reply.

Today I have been offered a brilliant job for September, they don’t know I am off with stress from my other role as I wasn’t asked and didn’t volunteer the information.

The new school (which has a few significant differences from my current and obviously doesn’t have my bullying head) have asked me to come in for some transition work on my current day off. I would be paid by them for this on an agency basis.

Can I do agency work on my off day from a job I am signed off for?

My sick note runs out soon but GP has assured me she will reissue it.

Can I ask her to write anything on the note that covers me for this?

I really wouldn;t

@underneaththeash is it fair that my head gets to bully me out of one role and ruin the chance of a future role too?

You should go as long as you know they won't be able to find out.

Well they can't actually stop you doing it.
Are you being paid company sick pay? If you are what does it say in sick pay policy about working elsewhere, doing the same job whilst receiving sick pay?

Given that you are leaving and have found a great new job, can you maybe go back to work just for now (ie end sick leave) and then do those transition days, and be paid for them, without worry.
