If you had an 18 month old and a school aged child.

Job 1 - Friday 10am-6pm
Sunday 10am - 6pm
Every Sunday, some bank holidays.

Job 2 - Monday 2pm - 7pm
Thursday/Friday - 8am - 12pm
No weekends or bank holidays.
Job 2 take home slightly less money.

Job two if you can get childcare

yoshiblue · 19/06/2023 08:22

Job 1 if you have a partner that can cover the Sundays as you'll get more time for childcare in the week.

tsmainsqueeze · 19/06/2023 08:23

Job 2 for me ,after working a lot of sundays and b.hols in the past i really appreciate not working them now.

h3ll0o · 19/06/2023 08:25

Job 2. I occasionally work weekends and it’s a PITA

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/06/2023 08:25

It depends what hours your partner works, but for me it would be job 2

GoodChat · 19/06/2023 08:27

Job 2 for me

NotLovingWFH · 19/06/2023 08:27

Job 2 definitely if you can cover childcare. Working a weekend day is ok but you miss out on family time if your partner is off at weekends too.

Job 2

Runnerduck34 · 19/06/2023 15:39

Job 2, unless it gives real childcare headaches.
Ive worked weekends/ bank holidays when DC when small and its not ideal missing out on family time when everyone else is off

SchoolShenanigans · 19/06/2023 19:17

Job 2. I think the short days will go really quickly and you'll have every weekend to spend with your little ones. It's also less pressure on your partner who presumably works full time. I'd hate to work full time then have a day a weekend on my own with my kids!

CatsOnTheChair · 19/06/2023 19:30

Can you get childcare for those hours?

Depends on why you are doing it. If you are desperate for the money, 1 as much less childcare.

If you want to keep your hand in, and the money is a bonus, job 2.

Purplemoon92 · 19/06/2023 19:32

Definitely job 2

pilates · 19/06/2023 19:33

Job 2

ShortDaysLongNights · 19/06/2023 19:34

If childcare isn't stopping you, definitely Job 2. Having a free weekend and being able to spend 2 days with the school aged child would make it my preferred choice if you would be ok with slightly less money.

Xmasbaby11 · 19/06/2023 19:36

Job 2

kegofcoffee · 19/06/2023 19:46

I would have said job 2, cos I hate working weekends.

But then I thought of school holidays, and they would be so much easier to cover if you're only working one weekday.

underneaththeash · 19/06/2023 19:49

Neither - Friday is the day for things to be on a school usually and you're unlikely to be able to book that much. I'd look round for something else.

Job 2
