Hi everyone, I have a telephone call next week for a director role I recently applied for. They’ve said they want just want to chat and successful applicants will be called for a second interview.

I just wondered if others have had something similar and what your call was like? Type of questions you were asked?

TIA

Don't be fooled by the fact they're referring to it as just a little chat - prepare for it in the same way you would a formal first interview and be ready with all the same responses (e.g. "tell me about yourself", "what are you looking for?", prep some questions to ask them, etc).

The good thing about it being over the phone is that you can have your notes and info about the company in front of you, so it's a bit easier in that you don't have to commit all your questions to memory.

The people who get filtered out at the telephone interview stage are the ones who believe them when they say "don't worry, it's honestly just a quick little chat", as it obviously has to be substantial enough to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Good luck!
