Job Hunting

It's been so long since I job hunted that I need a crash course on the subject. Apart from LinkedIn jobs and going directly to companies websites to see what's available, where else should I look? Do you put your cv on any website? Thanks.

I just used to look at Indeed morning, noon and night every couple of hours. I found a job on Glassdoor jobs though. Indeed is brilliant but what I have found is a number of employers use it as a platform to gorge what you’ll accept as a salary. I mean why post a job as 37.5 hours with a defined salary range only to send a first message asking the candidate what hours would they like and what do they want to earn, so for the most part felt like I was in some bidding war.

Went CV public on all the job sites for around 10 days, didn’t help sadly no calls even from recruiters/agencies just door knocking dodgy places post a fake job. (I know I’m scraping the barrel but not that desperate)

Though one large genuine company contacted me prior to going to going public, they found a 12 month out of date CV on CV library and encouraged me to apply to their role, turns out a competitive salary type one (so I got a lesson in what competitive really means this time round, thanks to reading old posts on here on the subject) as an application made you state your salary expectations, and we’ll reject, what a waste of time on their resources contacting someone with no experience of their industry. I did look up staff reviews but it just got comments of ‘poor pay’.

Very odd market.
