Nose piercing vs professional role??

Hi, please let me know your thoughts on this? I'm 46 and work in a professional role (engineer) for a large top consultancy. My role is non client facing. The company is very relaxed in attitudes and work attire; people WFH a lot and in office jeans and trainers are common place. I started working with them last year, loving it and would like to stay and progress. I'm currently on years FTC. The thing is, I would love to have a nose piercing through the septum.. I already have a small discreet piercing on one side of nostril, no-one has ever said anything. I would probably remove this one if i get the septum piercing. I always dress smartly for the office ( dress/ smart trousers) But I am 46, am I too old and would the new piercing seem unprofessional and hinder me? Would you judge someone (a bit older like me) if they had one? I desperately want one, ( have been thinking of it for years) so could do with some perspective please! Thank you!

Im also an engineer for a top consultancy and I don't think a piercing will hinder you. I certainly wouldn’t think anything of a colleague with one, regardless of age. Folk are generally valued for their skills in our type of job rather than appearance, which is nice!

Septum's can be flipped up - my daughter has got through a year of school without them knowing she has it......

It'll be fine. Piercings are everywhere now. Schools, banks, wherever. It's really very mainstream. Go for it.

I have a nose ring and tattoos and I'm a manager at a large professional company.

I'm client facing and have had a piercing and pink hair!

Awesome, thank you so much all! I think I'll go for it!

As PP have said, the only saving grace of septum piercings (hate them, sorry!) is if you pick an open ring, they can be flipped up into the nostrils to hide them.
