Advice on new role

Hi, over the pandemic I lost my job and took a stop-gap basic customer service role to tide me over. I have now managed to get a senior role in my dream career and start next month. I’m mid-20s.

I am a bit worried about the jump in responsibilities. For example I have deputised and been the duty manager for my team in bursts of 2-3 weeks, but I haven’t been an official line manager who needs to deal with HR processes before. In my new role I’ll be a manager of 3 senior staff, who will all have their own teams.

This role is in my degree field, but I haven’t actually worked in my degree field much before so I feel like I need to read up as much as I can? Maybe get a mentor to support?

any advice is appreciated

Ask what HR training you'll receive as part of your induction. If it's a large organisation they will have HR training for new managers so book onto as many courses as you can.
