How to get a reference from the civil service (Dept for Education)

I'm applying for a new role and they want references for the last 5 years. About 4.5 years ago, I worked as a civil servant for 6 months at the Department for Education. I am pretty sure absolutely no-one I know still works in that department. About 70% or the team were actively looking for new roles while I was there. Any ideas how I might go about getting a reference?

In the equivalent situation within local government you would cite the HR department as your reference.

Yep you need their HR department details, all references dealt with centrally in govt depts.

HR should have a record.

IIRC they will only confirm your dates of employment and job title anyway.

References come from their shared services/ central HR. If you can’t get these details I may be able to

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.

@Whatyoutalkingabouteh Thanks for the offer. I'll see if I can find contact details myself but may come back to you if I can't.
