I'm 31 weeks pregnant, I'm exhausted, I can barely walk I have bad pelvic girldle pain, I'm wobbling, I'm still occasionally being sick, I have gestational diabetes, I'm not sleeping well, if I ring the doctor can he issue me a sick note to go off work for a week or two? I need a break. I'm so tired. I go off work in 5 weeks but I'm finding it so difficult to hold out. What should I do? Any advice. Thanks

Just use the econsult for and s/he will either issue the note or arrange to speak to you.

Of course you can get a sick note. Get one now!

As your sickness is related to your pregnancy then it will not be counted against your usual non-pregnancy sickness record.

Thank you both. I'll contact the dr. I've read that you need to be off work for 7 days before contacting the dr. Is this true?

You can self certify for the first 7 days so most GPs won't issue a fit note until you've already been off that long and are still unwell.

If you're off sick with pregnancy-related illness in 4 weeks before your due date your maternity leave will start automatically. Just to make you aware.

She should be ok as she's 31 weeks currently and not due to go off on mat. leave for another 5 weeks, taking her to 36 weeks.

First five working days you ca self certify.

I was signed off at 21 weeks, my si joint seperated. Ended up delivering at 31, I fully believe if I had stayed in work it would have been earlier.

Mar leave triggers at 36

GPs don't sign you off from day 1 off sickness absence. You fill in a self certification form for the 1st 7 days.
The GP gives you a note if you require further time off after that
