Hello everyone! I'm looking for recommendations to travel daily from a village outside Durham city to Sunderland. Any suggestions, please? Many thanks.

If you don’t drive I would assume bus to Durham and then train to Sunderland.

Bus to Durham then bus to Sunderland
bus to Durham , train to Newcastle , train or metro to Sunderland

there are no trains direct from Durham so would need to go via Newcastle

bus is about an hour to 1.5 hours to Sunderland from Durham . Number 20 or 22

From a pit village? Honestly, if you are doing it frequently, learn to drive and get a car if at all possible.
Otherwise, bus to Durham, Train to Newcastle, Train to Sunderland.

Thank you all! I knew it would be difficult to commute.

Anyone used Uber or a taxi?

Why are you trying to do the journey?
A taxi for that distance wouldn't be my first choice on a daily basis.
But for a semi-regular hospital appointment or similar, I might consider it.

Car share? Car club?

Depends which village and how far out of Durham city you live. The direct bus from Durham to Sunderland takes an hour, the train (via Newcastle) takes 3/4 of an hour but will be much more expensive than the bus.
