Hello,

I applied for a STR support worker position in my local MH Trust last month. I did some voluntary work previously as a support worker but this role will be a career change for me. I'm hoping if successful it will be a positive change.Any interview pointers or anyone else a STR support worker?

Think about times when you have:

Motivated someone to pursue their goals
Got to know someone and found out what makes them tick
Overcome barriers to communication
Demonstrated resilience & stayed positive

Good luck, it's a great role x

What setting is the role in? Community or inpatients?

You might get asked questions around:
lone working/managing time/managing workload
managing conflict/differences in opinion with services users/colleagues
how you would adapt your approach for varying levels of ability
maintaining confidentiality and what you would do if someone asked you to keep a secret

What they want to know will vary on the setting and the service users you’ll be working with though. It’s useful to have examples that you can give of how you’ve approach situations in the past. Make sure to look up the trust values and think of some examples of how you will work towards them.

Good luck!

Thanks @CleanSheetsCupOfTea . Brilliant pointers there. It's a community role. Feeling very nervous!
