Resigning

So I am planning on handing in my notice tomorrow. I have been really happy with my current employer and I am only leaving as we are relocating to another area.

I have to give 12 weeks notice but the move is dependent on the sale of our house.

I want to give my employer as much notice as possible but I am also worried about the house sale falling through (survey has been done just waiting for feed back). The buyers are FTB and we will be renting so no chain

I have written my resignation letter and on the whole I am happy with the content but I wondered if I should include a line to say I am happy to stay on past the 12 weeks if the sale hasn't completed or do I just leave at the end of my notice period and if the sale fall through look for a temp position?

Thanks x

Could you talk to your employer to ask if it’s a possibility? It might depend whether they’ve recruited a replacement but they might be happy to play by ear you never know

Hi. It depends on the employer. I’ve resigned my job and it’s 12 weeks notice too. However my boss was happy if I did less or more than this as they don’t want to lose me and it’s all been on good terms. I’m doing 8 weeks btw. You can only ask. Good luck!

So my boss was not in yesterday or today so will need to wait until tomorrow now.
