I had to tell work I was pregnant because they were asking for proof of my appointments. My supervisor said not to worry and that she'll speak to the bosses and hr about it because she's not sure on maternity and stuff and that we'll have a little meeting on Tuesday, I'm panicking I'm gonna lose my job 😞 I can't afford to lose it 😞

Also I'm still agency at the minute I'm suppose to sign a contract in July

Why do you think you will lose your job? Do you have any performance issues? How long have you been there?

Why do you think you're going to lose your job?

What proof of appointments do they want?

musixa · 27/05/2023 16:34

They cannot sack you because you are pregnant. Hopefully the meeting will be exactly what they should be doing - a risk assessment and running through anything HR related you need to know.

Mummytotwo21 · 27/05/2023 21:42

I've only been working there since the 10th April this year, before I found out I was pregnant, I had a performance meeting last week as I had been there 6 weeks and they said I was doing great, I'm just worried they'll just make up an excuse to get rid of me now they know.

But they can't.....

Well they can. She is agency. They can get rid of her for any reason (not pregnancy related).

lavagal · 28/05/2023 13:54

Wouldn't have told them until you signed the perm contract really- why did you? I'd have taken the hit on a days wages for the one off appointment really or booked annual leave

rwalker · 28/05/2023 13:58

I would of presumed the agency would just send someone else

Readyplayerthr33 · 28/05/2023 14:01

They have to give you time off the pregnancy related appointments, but in order to have that you do need to tell them. If you didn’t want to tell them then you should have tried to arrange appointments outside of your working hours, which is very difficult, but unless you’re high risk then you wouldn’t have that many appointments anyway. Couldn’t you have fudged it until July when you signed the contract?

BungleandGeorge · 28/05/2023 14:04

How pregnant are you?

Mummytotwo21 · 28/05/2023 15:31

I have quite a few appointments because I'm seeing a consultant due to problems in my other pregnancies. Im just going to go to my meeting on Tuesday and put things across, I want to work all the way till my due date if possible and it's my third baby I have child care and would want to be back to work as soon as I would be able so I'm just going to say all that to them and see how it goes.

The problem is they wouldn't be able to just send just anyone from the agency it has to be another interview and they have to train for 12 weeks I'm halfway through my training and theyve said I've picked it up faster than anyone else they've had there before, I start work 45 minutes early every single day and I've not had one day off, even my appointments I've popped on my lunch break. I'm hoping I ahve all this on my side.

I start work 45 minutes early every single day

Can I ask why you do this?

I start work 45 minutes early every single day

Can I ask why you do this?

Because my partner starts work at half 7 without him I'd have no way of getting to work so he takes me early

They’d be pretty stupid to get rid of you just as you told them you’re pregnant….
