Is it ok to leave a job off your CV?

I recently left my very long term job for another one where I stayed at for just under a year. From there I went to a job which was so toxic I didn’t stay for long, at all. It totally knocked me as I don’t move from job to job. I have since started a new job. Happy to stick at this job but until something back in the area I want to be in comes up, and I knew that in my head when I accepted the role. Is it ok to leave my previous short term job off my CV? I have the fear that it may hold me back from recruiters, and obviously I can’t sit and mention all the bad points about why I left the role if I left it on my CV.

Gaps wouldn’t necessarily be covered at interview, or even at offer stage, but they would be flagged at the HR background check stage where I work, and you’d be asked to fill in the gaps

Some employers (finance/insurance sectors for example) might ask for a Tax Report from HMRC where all your previous employers will be listed with dates. So just be aware when applying to such places.

Of course you can leave a job off for 11 weeks!

I had this issue, I put it on my CV as temp role/position.

I'd do this rather than leaving it off my application

i reckon there's a high chance it will be spotted during the onboarding process of many firms

It’s fine on a CV. Not ok on an application form that explicitly asks for every job to be listed.

^ this

but don’t worry too much - if you’ve had long term jobs it’s ok if 1 wasn’t a fit and you chose to move on quickly
