Help! Do I apply for my dream job even though the salary is poor?

I will bullet point to keep this brief!

• worked in healthcare care for 15 years, on a very good salary and have worked very hard to get where I am
• I have always wanted to work with animals so I have set up a part time pet sitting business and completed many online diplomas courses
• I have lost the passion for my job
• a job has come up in an animal shelter which excites me but is half my salary ( I have an interview Tues)
• husband is on a very good wage and we have two homes to pay for
• there's a possibility of another job coming up in August (small animal radiographer) which is very very well paid but obviously I'm not guaranteed this post - haven't been interviewed yet)
• should I follow my heart and go for a low paid job (half my wage) or listen to my head?

What if I get accepted for the post and during my three month notice period I get offered the vet job? Arghhh help!!!!!!! 🐕

oh gosh this is hard! if you can afford it, I would always say to go for what would make you most happy :) if you did get the radiographer job, would you prefer it or just would prefer the better salary? The animal shelter won't have much money so do not take the job if you would then give it up for the radiographer, as it will cost them to advertise your role again. I would love to work with animals!

I think there's 2 key questions:

1. Do the sums add up
2. Does your husband agree to the impact on finances short and long term.

If yes and yes the go for it.

Re the "might happen" job I think you can only make the decision on the basis of the information you have today.

I'd wait it out to apply for the radiographer job tbh

I wouldn't but money is very important to me which may not apply to you.
