Has anyone become an estate agent in their mid 40's? Also interested in anyone working in this field as to whether you enjoy it and would recommend? Thanks in advance.

Hi there! Just wondering if you made the career move and how do you find it? 😊

MrsAlwaysRight · 15/08/2023 18:33

No not yet unfortunately.

I did. I took voluntary redundancy from a sales manager role at 49 and went to work as an estate agent. Im 52 now. Its hard work, can be long hours and the pay is not great. But I love it. I look forward to work every day and it can be exciting and often go home with a buzz. The money might be rubbish but the fact that I love the job keeps me there.

DS3 is an estate agent. He left a couple of years ago, when the market was really bad. Despite being good at it nothing was selling, so he wasn't making any commission. He tried recruitment, but it just wasn't enjoyable for him. He's now back selling houses & loving life & work again.

The housing market is very slow at the moment. My friend who is a mortgage broker has virtually no mortgage clients at the moment and has taken on a second job to pay the bills.

Thanks cheapskate mum and FerretFarago 🙂
