I only work part time(due to dc) but i am being made redundant in 5 weeks.

I have asked on a couple of other threads but i am really panicking about this now
A collegue raised this with me yesterday and since then i have been worried.

link

If you have paid enough NI then you can claim contribution based JSA
Otherwise it would be income based and that's no good if you have lots of savings

Best to give them a call

I think you have to declare your redund £ - and that can affect when they start to pay you Income based JSA

Beauregard · 18/02/2008 13:15

Thanks

I will only be getting a minimal amount of redundancy and i have no savings.

If you had been paying NI then you should get contributions based JSA which is not means tested. If not, income based JSA is means tested on savings, income and partners income.

Yes I think you should no problem pelvicfloornomore. Give jobseeker direct a call. I think the number is 0845 6060 234. I would go into the jobcentre before hand and discuss with an advisor there as it can take weeks for your first payment to come through so it's best to prepare early.

Thanks Lola
I rang my local jobcentre and they said to call the number on the 1st day i am not working and it will take about 40 minutes over the phone.
