Enhanced Maternity Pay - Barclays

Hi all, I have accepted a new role at Barclays (VP level) and I was wondering if anyone on here can shed some light on their enhanced maternity leave policy and how long you need to work there before benefiting from it.

I had a miscarriage towards the end of 2022 and I am keen to start trying again but conscious that with a new job I will need to time it right. I have asked HR a couple of times but I am still waiting for the policy and don’t want to keep chasing to not make it so obvious.

If anyone has any insight on this, I would be very grateful :)

Thank you

Apologies just came across this thread and would be really interested to know if you managed to find out? I am also in the process of accepting a VP job in London but currently trying to conceive so been googling everywhere but can’t seem to find a solid answer!

ZingyTealGuide · 03/07/2024 19:35

@Xssamx did you ever find out what the policy was? I’m contemplating an offer and am in a similar situation

Helloyou2 · 03/07/2024 23:04

Hi there, they have a generous policy if you are permanent and have worked there for a short amount of time. I can’t remember exactly how many weeks you need to be in role but it will be 6 months full pay (barclays enhanced maternity pay) and the rest statutory pay. I’d recommend waiting a couple of months in role in order to qualify. Hope that helps.

Amazing thanks @Helloyou2 !! Any chance you know how long you need to be in the company before birth to qualify for that? I’ve scoured the company website but couldn’t find any info about that

@ZingyTealGuide will PM you!

Hello am currently interviewing for a vp role and was wondering what the eligibility was for the enhanced mat leave? Whether it's from day 1 or 6-12 months of employment

BluntKoala · 17/06/2025 23:57

Did anyone find the answer? Im in a similar scenario

User1213 · 18/06/2025 05:25

@BluntKoala ill PM you but for the avoidance of doubt, it’s less than 6 months before qualifying for anyone else reading this.

H3llokitty · 06/10/2025 16:46

@User1213 Hi, I'm in a similar scenario too and wondered what the latest policy is re. minimum service to qualify for the enhanced maternity pay? Thanks in advance

User1213 · 16/10/2025 13:50

Got to be there roughly a month or two before you fall pregnant to get the full pay

KittyButtercup · 07/12/2025 08:52

Would anyone be able to share eligibility for this - how long you have ti be in role?

93Rk · 02/01/2026 17:50

Can anyone share an update to this please? Due to start in Jan and wondering when we can stop being ‘safe’

FWSsupporter · 02/01/2026 21:14

For you to be safe with SMP start the job, have one period and then TTC. As you will have already started the job you can find the maternity leave policy and check the eligibility for occupational.
