Interviewed with an organisation that I’ve wanted to work for forever last week - Head of role. They appointed a new Director a couple of months back who is yet to start (or to formally resign from their current role). I didn’t apply for the Director role, believing it to be too big a step up.
Interviews went brilliantly but I was unsuccessful because they said they saw me in the Director role instead. They asked if they could keep my details in case “anything changed” with that post as they “definitely saw me being a key part of the organisation in future”. I don’t suspect they will withdraw the offer from the other candidate, but does anyone know what could happen here? I’m kicking myself for not applying for the Director role and don’t know whether there is a reason to continue to hope or not.
