Congrats, me, I suppose?!
Since I'm still on my name change, this may as well be outing!
I'm in a large corporation in the tech sector. And, just like any large corporation in the tech sector these days, we're performing lay-offs. It's not fun! Not even remotely!
From a purely financial point of view, the company is - for a change - applying some very solid thinking and making cuts, among other focus areas, among "very senior, very expensive leadership levels". Unfortunately for me, this happens to include my boss. My mentor, my sponsor, the person who was sufficiently invested in me to sometimes just tell me "no, my darling girl, you are about to be led down a dangerous path - PIVOT!"
New guy seems nice enough, has no idea of the industry, has also, accidentally [read: ongoing client issue] had "guy who does nothing but costs a lot - a.k.a. 'guy the entire rest of the management team would love to be rid of - because he does nothing, and his deal escalates every other year like clockwork'" as his initial exposure to our team.
I used to be old boss' Chief of Staff, basically.
Stay on and keep in trying or look for greener pastures in my own right?
