What is the term for 'gaslighting' but in a professional context?

I'm wondering if one or two of you might be able to word it better than I can - I'm essentially trying to describe gaslighting in a professional sense. For example if your manager tells you that something which is demonstrably difficult like moving and lifting boxes from one office to another isn't going to be difficult because you haven't tried it yet to 'know' it's going to be difficultConfused Or if you'd requested to be given specific time (in your working day) to complete project X, but you ended up having to complete it at home because your manager instructed you to do a completely different thing on the morning of your day to do project X then later says that you should have asked for time to complete it instead of taking it home Confused

Not necessarily. OP says they were asked to do something that they haven't done before - how do they know they can't if they haven't done it? OP asked for specific time to do something - we don't know that was agreed, and nobody can force you to work unpaid at home.

There is nowhere near enough information to make an informed decision.

I'd just call it mismanagement

"Gaslighting" is just fine.

Why does it matter whether you call it gaslighting or something else? I think you need to focus on working through the situation, rather than worrying about what to call the situation.
