I am in a job share arrangement. I do
two days and my colleague does three.
Offered extra hours (day each). So our job share becomes 1.4 WTE. All agreed. My colleague’s extra day starts next month.
My extra hours are agreed but I haven’t given an ‘effective date’ because I have to resign another job to take the extra day on - that’s ‘job 2.’
I’ve signalled my intention to resign my post with job 2 and started making arrangements, so my effective date to increase my hours in job 1 is roughly mid June.
However, now the employer in job 1 is saying that we cannot have the extra hours until we go to competitive external interview.
Bit of a discrepancy in that my colleague’s extra hours are all Signed off
and due to begin
soon. Mine are agreed but I haven’t started.
can any union people advise?
