Civil service security check - moving between Depts

Currently work in the Civil Service and been offered a job in another Department. I’m thrilled and very keen to move as soon as possible. I have a 3 month notice period but wondering how long the security checks are generally taking at the moment. I’m aware they can be 6-12 weeks for external candidates to move into the CS but just wondering if anyone had any timescales for cross-dept moves?

Depends on the Department. It can be just as long as for externals.

@Yippeenewjob Internal transfers are set out in the Civil Service Management Code para 10.2.2 c. They should release you within 8 weeks.

My advice be proactive, if you search your Intranet there should be a transfer process - it’s a standard OGD transfer process.

It depends on whether you need a higher level of security clearance, developed vetting can take months.

Theres a junior member of my team who is 13 months into security checks to move to a different department. Young employee. I cant imagine there is anything scandalous in her history.
