Booking annual leave when off sick

Hi, I am currently off work sick and need to book some time off on annual leave when I’m back for the odd day or two. Can I approach my employer whilst off sick to request this or do I need to wait till I’m back at work?

Do you know when you are due back? If so then I don't see why not.
