Being hassled at work

I'm being made to work in an area that makes my health conditions worse. There is an area where I used to work, that didn't do this. If I go into work and can only work part of the day due to becoming unwell, will I be marked as off sick? Someone at work said that there are a certain number of hours you need to work so you're not marked as off sick but he didn't know how many. It's a large public body I work for, coming up for 36 years of employment with the same employer.

@Jojoleo usually there is a policy that states this - try your staff hand book or sick absence policy.

Also ask to be referred to OH as the work you are being asked to do is making you unwell.

Can you get a reasonable adjustment (supported by OH if necessary) that means you don’t work in that area?

It doesn't work like that. If you turn up at work and then get a cold, then if you've done a half day that single period doesn't count. But you just can't go "my workplace is making me sick so I'm only doing half days". If the issue is your workplace then you need an OH referral. But that isn't a free pass. If there's no other choices, they could dismiss on capability.
