Work holidays and bank holiday

Hi all,

Can someone work this out for me please - if someone's full time at the company 9-5 Monday Friday and they get 28 days holiday including bank holidays.

What would someone get if they worked Tuesday-Thursday 9-5?

Hope that makes sense

How many hours is a day? Is your lunch break an hour or 30 minutes and is it paid? Annual leave for part timers is pro rata in hours.

They would get 3/5 of the entitlement of someone full time (so 16.8 days)

0.6 of full time allowance

0.6 x 28 = 16.8 days
plus 0.6 x 8 public holidays = 4.8

Total 16.8 + 4.8 = 21.6 days

None of this matters really.
If they work â…— of full time they get â…— of the holidays of full time staff

No, the 28 days includes the public holidays, they’re not added on top. The total is 16.8 days.

No it's just the 16.8. The op states in her original post that the 28 days includes bank Holidays (not plus bBH)

That's including the public holidays so 20 days for whenever and 8 bank holidays

So I think 16.8 is right?

In which case it's 16.8 days.

There’s an extra bank holiday this year, making it nine bank holidays. But the company doesn’t have to give you that extra day. Many companies will, though.

If contracts states "and bank holidays" or similar then employers do have to give the extra entitlement when there is an additional bank holiday. That's why I have such found memories of Kate & wills wedding.

@TheJudgeandJury thats not quite accurate. If your contract states 20 days + BH then you get extra BH but if it says 28 days including BH you don’t.
