Becoming a Play Therapist

Hi all, I wonder if any of you out there are Play Therapists and could like me know how you got into that work?
I am looking for a career change and I think that Play Therapy is the way I want to go.
I've worked with children and teenagers for the past 7 years. I have a BA but not in psychology, counselling or teaching so I would think I'm going to have to do a conversion course.
Can you give me any advice? Or, could you tell me your story of how you got to do that job? I've been doing my own research but personal stories are helpful too! 😊

All I can tell you is when my DD had a prolonged stay in hospital aged 2, we were visited by a play therapist. she seemed utterly unmotivated, my daughter was baffled and I thought - what a non-job and waste of nhs money.

but… i can well imagine others will have a very different experience

I've looked into this. Everything I read seemed to say you needed a degree and background in Social Work.
