Annual leave calculation

I’ve recently handed my notice in and my last day is 30th June. HR have recalculated my remaining holiday allowance but they’ve not included a partial refund (for want of a better phrase!) for the mandatory Christmas shutdown hours. Every employee is allocated X amount of annual leave but we must use 3 of those days for Christmas shutdown. HR are saying I’m not entitled to any of those hours back because they call after I’ve left the company, but I think that I should get 1.5 days back free to take as the days come out of my annual allowance. Who is right here? I’d really appreciate any advice.

When I wouldn't a place that tabulated these things, it was along the lines of:
1full month worked since start of leave year: 2 days leave granted.
2 months: 4 days
3 months: 7 days

So, I'd approach from the other side: how many months of a leave year will you have worked.
What fraction of a years annual leave (ignore bank holidays, if you work M-F 9-5 style hours) is that.

You are only entitled to be paid for accrued and unused annual leave.

A What is your annual entitlement.
B What is your annual leave year.

Divide A by B to get your monthly entitlement.

Deduct what you've taken to date.

What's left is what you are due.

Eg. 24 days annual leave = 2 days per month. Annual leave runs from 1st April to 31sr March. No leave taken. You are due 2 days.

@Havanawinter if I understand you correctly you are saying Christmas 2023 leave has been deducted from your gross leave so your net leave is 3 days less.

What you need to do is work out your gross and net leave to 30 June and show your working to HR.

One factor is how your contract words your leave is it 20 days plus BH or 28 days including BH? It does make a difference.
