NHS - how long to get an interview date after being shortlisted?

I think I'm anxious because I'm so keen on this job I've applied for, but I was shortlisted nearly 2 weeks ago and I still haven't heard about an interview. I know I was shortlisted as I checked with their HR, so I was all chuffed, and now I'm still in limbo - just a bit gutted as I'm off this week for the Easter Hols and had really hoped I could get an online interview, get an offer and tell my crappy current job to go stick themselves 😅wishful thinking I know!!

Is 2 weeks average from shortlist to interview, or is this a how long is a piece of string question?

It can take a while OP, anywhere between 2 -6 weeks usually.

But it’s concerning that you have been told by ‘HR’ that you’ve been shortlisted - that shouldn’t be happening, you should be invited to interview by the recruitment team. Who told you had been shortlisted ?

(I work in the NHS and shortlisting and interviewing is part of my role)

Impossible to say - lots of things can hold up the process between shortlisting and scheduling the interviews and emailing candidates. However, have you checked your spam folder?

It was the number on the job ad to call with any queries, Silvercat - so I've said HR, but it was probably the recruitment team. I gave my job application number and they said I've been shortlisted but no interviews selected yet. But that was ages ago. I don't want to call again.

Thanks Wiseup - yes I think i'm just going to have to get comfortable with the limbo.

Ah fair enough- yes it will be the recruitment team. If you want to call then call- people being keen is never a bad thing !

But the wheels of recruitment in the NHS are frustratingly slow ! And just an FYI- you may not get much notice before your interview.

Interview tip- research the trust, (what services do they offer) and their values. You would be amazed how many people do not do this !!

There is a thread under this topic of people waiting to be short listed. I can't copy link as don't know how on the app sorry.

Ah thanks Silver - yes I've been really reading up on them and the JD and how I suit the job etc, and feel ready now for this interview....that isn't materialising. I'm with another trust, and it's been 5 years since I put myself through this, so I've forgotten how long the whole thing can take!

Getting my head around STAR(?) answers as well x
