Changing job after 6 months

So I was very unhappy at work and after applying for a number of jobs I got one. It is a long way from my home but I enjoy the work and I have good colleagues and I was desperate!

However I have seen another job nearer home - it is in a related field but completely different to what I am doing - so a bit of a gamble - but I have wanted a job in that field for many years and they don't come up that often.

I am in a quandary- if I had been in my current job for at least a year then I would not hesitate in applying - but I have only been there for 3 months and the job would start in 5 months.

But you might not even get to job so I'd apply and see what happens. If new job ask why you want to leave your job you can say it's closer to home.

Just apply and make a decision further down the line. I don’t think one short term job on the CV is a bad thing, especially if you can justify leaving because you had a better offer. Lots of short spells can look flakey but if the rest of your CV is solid I wouldn’t worry about applying now.
