NHS Admin start date

Hi,

I have been conditionally offered an NHS admin role, 2 weeks ago. I have sent over all documents etc and references have been sent too. Any ideas on how long this process takes? And also when they do provide a start date what sort of notice do they give? Is it usually what your notice is to you employer? I am trying to work out when is best to hand in my notice as I would like a little break in between :)

It can sometimes take ages for all NHS HR checks and admin to finish. Can be notoriously long. The last person employed in my team started 10 weeks after interview which isn’t too bad for the NHS. We don’t usually suggest people give notice till things are l complete though. Depends on your notice period too I guess?

Do you have access on the trac system online ( usually apply for jobs on that or something similar) to see updates?

I have heard it can take some while. My current notice is 4 weeks but I am having a nightmare at work and currently want to hand my notice in as soon as possible. I had a look on the NHS job train and it just says pre employment checks underway.

Hopefully it will be worth it, i just hate not knowing. LOL

@H1761 I wouldn't hand your notice in, it can take ages! You don't want a month with no wages.

I recruit in the NHS and suggest people hand their notice in when they get their unconditional offer letter, to avoid as PP says delays causing you to have left your current role before starting your new one.

The start date is usually negotiated between you and the recruiting manager based on the date your offer conditions are completed and the notice period you have to give.
