Would you expect notification of illness to be acknowledged

I agreed yesterday to cover a shift at short notice this evening. Last night though I came down with a shivering horrible sickness bug. I’m in no way able to now work the shift.
I’m on a zero hours contract, I’ve emailed my line manager and other staff involved in the rota but had no response.
Would you seek a confirmation they are aware?

I guess I’m nervous because my role is one that means if I’m not covered no one else can work. I’m quite new

Yes I'd try to make sure I knew someone was aware, just for peace of mind really as I wouldn't want it to get to the evening and no one know about it/ have had the chance to find cover.
