Should I assume its a no?

I went for the 3rd and final interview just over 2 weeks ago and they told me they would decide pretty quick. This is for an international well known company.

It's higher management position and I've got over 10 years in the field. I've had 1 phone interview and two face to face ones. One at the Depot I'd be running and the other at the Head office for the NW. At the first face to face, he asked me on the spot to attend the final stage as I'd interviewed really well. The last one I had to book a day off work and travel over and hour to meet the the UK ops Manager along with the area Manager. I've put alot of effort into this, with 3 interviews that lasted over an hour each and I'm just abit annoyed I haven't heard and outcome? I'd usually hear within a couple days or even some feedback. I do know they had internal applications but the Area manager told me he doesn't want internal, he wants a new set of eyes and fresh ideas (I would of been taking over his job as he has moved up) and he thinks I was perfect for the role as we had similar work attitudes. I thought the interviews went really well.

So it's been just over 2 weeks since the final interview and I think I've been ghosted for the first time ever. I feel abit crap about it to be honest. Is this normal? For a company that was so keen on me, I'm feeling really deflated. He did say they'd let me know either way. The job posting has just expired now. Is it safe to assume its a no? I've continued to apply to other jobs but this one was perfect 😮‍💨

Do you not have contact details to chase them up? That's what I'd be doing, probably at the one week point if I still hadn't heard.

Agree with @GiltEdges . I don’t understand why employers keep people waiting, regardless of which way the interview went . I would definitely chase up .

Yes I emailed a few days later to thank them and I got a call that he was going on annual leave for a few days and he'd contact me when a decision was made. It's just really annoying that I've had no word from them at all. Surely it doesn't harm taking 5 minutes to send me an email to say that I wasn't selected! I got on well with the manager too which makes it a little more deflating.

He gave me his work phone number also to contact regarding anything. Should I pop him a call or just leave it now?

If it's anything like my firm the person who can sign off on the recruitment will be on leave / travelling for work etc. especially if you are going for a senior position. It would be courteous to let you know of a delay.

I assume you haven't gone through an agent?

I went directly through the company. It's a senior role. I know it's the Ops Manager that has the final say and she does Manage quite a few areas of the UK, so could very well be extremely busy.

I'm just finding the radio silence strange. I've not had this before so I'm not sure what to do now.

Hey OP! Did you hear back?

Pipps80 · 23/03/2023 00:21

It's a definite NO. Employers are just unprofessional like this and do not appreciate candidates time.

ForestRun · 23/03/2023 10:29

HOL2024 · 22/03/2023 23:47

Hey OP! Did you hear back?

Turns out they hired someone internally, who had the role promised to them and the external interviews were just compliance. I found out from someone I know working there, not the hiring managers.

So annoyed about it. I wasted so much time. They shouldn't advertise roles if they've been promised internally! I'm still applying to other roles so I've not given up yet!

That's so annoying, it's awful to screw people around like that.

GlorifiedChair · 23/03/2023 11:20

That's awful @ForestRun, and particularly bad that they STILL haven't even told you directly.
