Leaving social work to join the civil service? Any advice? I’ve been working in adult social care and a social worker and assistant team manager since I qualified in 2018 but I’m totally burnt out by the system and not being able to actually do anything that feels is making a difference, social care is dire, mental health support services are dire it’s a never ending need of firefighting with no resources. I am at risk of burn out. I am willing to take a pay cut to restart in a different area. Anyone have any advice or has done similar?

Would you consider working for early help?
You've clearly got the skills!
It's a rewarding job and the families I work with are willing and happy to work with me, as it's voluntary.
Most cases are reasonably easy to solve and its really rewarding (mostly!)

I feel for anyone working in social care. Our cases that are beyond early help go straight to social care and some look harrowing/dire and so hard to fix 🙁
