I'm hopefully starting a new job in a school as a T/A it's a temporary contract which is fine with me. I fully expect that summer holidays would be unpaid but what about Easter/Christmas? Is there a legal holiday entitlement for temporary staff ?

Why would you expect summer to be unpaid?

I just know that they are. I know that's how they work it

I'm covering mat leave after Easter until June. Then starting again in sept-June so my point is will I get paid for the holidays that fall inside the year that I'm working

As a school worker I'm paid term time plus holiday pay.....which is something like 38 weeks for the terms + pro rata holidays ....which is 5.6 weeks x the percentage of the year I work x hours per week.

The salary is annualised....so I do get a payment in August...because they work out the annual and divide it by 12. (Rather than I am paid for hours I don't work).

Are you not working the 2 weeks in July? It seems unfair that they stop and start.you.

You will definitely get a percentage of holiday pay for the Sep to June. I would be asking HR if they can keep you continuously through to May by extending your current contract.

Good TAs are hard to come by....you have a strong bargaining position.....(If you are good. LOL)
