I have accepted a provisional job offer with one area of the CS- wfh and an HEO role UKHSA but have just been offered an SEO role in another department- DWP. All the checks are done for the HEO role. Two questions really- in the DWP, what tends to be the weighting re working from home please for hybrid and two- would it be really bad to pull out of the original job offer? No formal contract has been signed yet. Any advice would be really welcome. Thanks.

No don't worry about pulling out, choose whatever job you want. CS recruitment is so painful hiring managers know people apply for multiple roles, they have reserve lists to pull from, remember what is a work nuisance to a manager is a much bigger life decision for you!

I don't have knowledge of DWP, but most of the civil service is having to push people back into the office due to media/political interest, usually 2-3 days (although it depends on your manager usually) whilst I would understand the temptation to go for the SEO role, very few departments offer home working contracts, UKHSA is going through major shifts with it being a new agency, which means there could be scope to move around and apply for an SEO when in (if you're new to the CS you'll need to pass probation first) so if homeworking is important to you, I would consider the Heo role.
