Band 6 NHS interview

Having been a band 5 in various specialities for the past 5 years, I am applying for a band 6 post.

However, I become incredibly nervous at interview. Anyone who has had a successful band 6 interview able to tell me what to expect? I know I will have to give examples of leading a team etc and draw on my past experiences.

A colleague I work with in the private sector who is also NHS has.

it was all about demonstrating where you have been able to lead a team/use initiative to the benefit of a)patient b)colleagues.

She also focused on improvement to service and demonstrating how it could be implemented.

there’s obviously lots of factors with interviews but it’s the same principle as any interview. Be yourself and just show your commitment and values to the profession.

Good luck

Examples of supervision, difficult conversations, challenging examples, your own clinical Interests and CPD. Trust values and how you meet them.

After 5 years I imagine you are more than ready, good luck!

@RH1234 @bookish83 thank you both. I am definitely ready, I do just worry about how I come across in interviews and on the spot struggle to provide examples of my leadership and change experience.

So prepare some and cast them to memory. I took in flash cards.

B6 is more managerial so as someone up thread said, any changes that you saw was needed, what did you do to implement that change?

Leadership in todays very challenging environment, how to motivate a team will be very high on the agenda.

How much experience you have with examples of managerial challenges you have come up against? So this can be as simple as coming on shift with low staffing due to nurses ringing in sick. How did you maintain safety for patients and staff on shift? How did you ensure breaks were taken? Care was given?

Example of a challenging convo with stroppy intoxicated relative?

An example of when you had to have a healthy conversation in order to strongly advocate for a patient when disagreeing with a senior or Dr.

good luck OP
