Job Interview and Terrified

SoAnxiouss · 20/02/2023 21:21

I have a job interview tomorrow and I’m absolutely terrified. I was asked if I’d like to interview just before the weekend and I don’t feel prepared at all.

Any tips?

Sorry sorry didn't see your update well done xxxxx

JobbieBobbie · 27/02/2023 18:47

I think @SoAnxiouss was offered the job upthread 🙂.

I haven't heard about my interview yet, which I'm guessing is bad news 🤪...

If they promoted you then it's not necessarily a bad thing. Was it competency based questions?
That's what mine was.

I know you have already had the interview OP but saw an interesting ted talk about using 'power posing' before events like interviews and it significantly increased performance and interview perception. will find the link.

I watched that yesterday and wonder womaned before my job interview today...

@changedforonenightonly

I hope you hear soon @changedforonenightonly

@changedforonenightonly, the questions seemed to be lots of What would you do in this situation-type questions. What do you mean by competency-based questions?

Maybe you're right about the prompting, but I guess it's a bad sign not to have heard yet (my interview was on Thursday).

I just feel a bit gutted, and I can't tell my colleagues for obvious reasons. It wouldn't even be as easy decision to take the job, but it would be nice to be offered it 😄.

I need to dust myself off, and get on with things, but I suppose I need to get the bad news first. I've booked an interview course through my union, so I am trying.

JobbieBobbie · 27/02/2023 19:06

@Iamblossom, I've that you Wonder woman-ed before your interview 😄. How was it?

JobbieBobbie · 27/02/2023 19:07

^I love that you

Iamblossom · 27/02/2023 19:07

It went really well! Thankyou for asking 🥰

JobbieBobbie · 27/02/2023 19:09

In that case, I'm going to Wonder woman before my next interview 😄.

Thank you for this

I was offered my job 🙂! I'm pleased, and I'm just waiting for some more info before I decide

changedforonenightonly · 01/03/2023 20:25

@JobbieBobbie well done and congratulations!!

I'm still waiting to hear which can't be good.
I got an interview though so if I didn't get the next interview then I know what to brush up on. I've had a really good week at work since the interview so I'm happier than I was.

JobbieBobbie · 01/03/2023 20:34

Thanks @changedforonenightonly.

It's really difficult waiting to hear back - I'd passed through feeling quite low, and ended up just wanting to know (even if it was bad news) so that I could move on.

And you're right - you must have submitted a good application to get an interview, and the interview itself is also good experience, no matter what the outcome is. I'm still reflecting on my interview; I'm not sure I always grasped what they were asking me, so I feel a bit frustrated by that.

I've got an interview course soon, so I'm still going to go on that. And I'm going to keep a bit of a closer eye on my personal development going forwards as well.

Let us know when you hear back 🙂.

changedforonenightonly · 01/03/2023 20:38

I applied for this job in temper with my current job. The issues seem to now be being looking at. After 10 years. I shit you not.

I'm not convinced it's even the right move for me as it's a bit more travelling which is a ball ache and I also think I sold myself too low on the salary expectations.

All in all I bet I get offered another interview as that is Sod's Law Blush

JobbieBobbie · 01/03/2023 20:44

Oh, that sounds promising! Maybe this is the best outcome for you right now 🙂. There's definitely a lot to be said for the devil you know.

Unfortunately, I can't really see anything changing at my work in the near future, so I think I'll probably accept the job offer once some details are worked out. I'm not planning on burning any bridges though.
